I feel incredibly grateful that my work takes me to amazing places, connecting with inspiring people along the way. This week, I’ve had the privilege of visiting Thursday Island in the stunning Torres Strait, celebrating the success of our talented apprentices and the incredible employer partners and ITEC Employment Team who support them to achieve their potential.
From breathtaking ocean views to the warmth of the local community, this trip is a reminder of why apprenticeships matter—they create opportunities, strengthen businesses, and build futures.

Both Loban Marine and Babcock are committed to investing in First Nations talent and equipping apprentices with hands-on experience in industries critical to the region. Loban Marine, are leaders in marine mechanical services, ensuring Torres Strait’s vessels stay in top condition. In addition to his employers our ITEC Employment mentor David Ahboo supports Dwight is gaining invaluable skills to keep marine engines running smoothly. Meanwhile, Babcock, a global leader in aerospace and defence, is providing Jemmah with industry-leading training in aircraft maintenance, setting her on a path for an exciting career in aviation.
