Claiming New Energy Apprentice Support Payments

This payment encourages apprentices to pick clean energy jobs, boosts how long they stay in these jobs, and helps more apprentices finish their training successfully. It gives direct financial help to Australian Apprentices who start a clean energy job.

To be eligible, apprentices must be doing a Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma level course with a clean energy job listed on the Australian Apprenticeship Priority List (PDF).

The payment is given throughout the apprenticeship: $2000 per payment for full-time apprentices (up to $10,000 total) and $1,000 per payment for part-time apprentices (up to $5,000 total).

Apprentices need to claim through the Apprenticeship Data Management System (ADMS). ADMS is a safe, reliable platform for Australian Apprenticeship programs. It’s used by various groups like Network Providers, Employers, and Apprentices. Users log in using their myGovID digital identity. ADMS manages things like Training Contracts, eligibility checks, and claims.

To be eligible:

  • You must meet all the main requirements.
  • You must have started or restarted your apprenticeship with a new employer on or after July 1, 2023; or restarted with your original employer after July 1, 2023, if your apprenticeship was suspended or cancelled for more than 6 months (if it started before July 1, 2022) or 12 months (if it started on or after July 1, 2022).
  • When you started or restarted with a new employer, you must be working towards a qualification listed on the Australian Apprenticeships Priority List as a clean energy qualification, and your apprenticeship must have an occupational outcome listed on the Priority List as a clean energy job.

Your employer must show:

  • They’re involved in the clean energy sector.
  • You’ll do a significant part of your work in the clean energy sector on an ongoing basis when you start or restart.
